Jun Kasui’s career is the industry’s clearest recent example of a stop that was not an end. An S1 exclusive who went on indefinite hiatus in December 2023 for health reasons, disclosed the diagnosis in public, and returned — via a surprise move to a different label — in October 2024. The break, the disclosure and the return are all on the record.

2021: the S1 debut
Kasui debuted on 7 July 2021 at S1 No. 1 Style — the flagship label of the Hokuto group, home to Tsukasa Aoi, Kirara Asuka and Mio Ishikawa. She has described her entry point as noticing “a cute person on Instagram” who turned out to be a sexy actress. She released roughly 32 solo titles at S1.
2023–2024: the hiatus
On 30 December 2023 she announced an indefinite hiatus from AV for repeated health problems, effective after her January 2024 title. She kept working at a slower pace on non-AV activities.
In January 2025 she disclosed the reason publicly: a flare-up of SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus). The disclosure is the notable part — the industry’s health-related exits are usually private, and she chose to name the condition.
October 2024: the surprise return
On 24 September 2024 she announced the return — through a move to Honnaka, a different part of the Hokuto group than S1. Her Honnaka debut, “S-Class Beauty Jun Kasui Makes a Surprise Move,” released on 22 October 2024. She has also appeared on MOODYZ titles since.
The return to a different label, rather than back to S1, is itself the point: the hiatus ended with a fresh start, not a resumption.
Music: the singer and Dopamine
- July 2022 — singer debut at LADY MADONNA vol.15
- June 2025 — first solo live (Sangenjaya Grapefruit Moon)
- January 2026 — formed the duo Dopamine with Mio Ishikawa; debut single “Backlog Game Boy”
Her own X account documents the day-to-day, including the Dopamine launch in January 2026.
What this career means
A stop is not an end, and the way back can be a new start. Kasui’s hiatus was real, the reason was disclosed, and the return went to a different label rather than back to the old one. Alongside Saito Amiri’s limited comeback and Oguri Misao’s rename-and-return, her career is one of the documented paths out of and back into this industry — and, unusually, it is one that ran through illness and said so.
