2020–2021: Nako Hoshi, the abrupt retirement
She entered under the name Nako Hoshi in September 2020 as a Million (KM Produce) exclusive. Her stated entry point was seeing foreign porn as a high-school first-year and wanting “to see the other side of AV.”
In October 2021, with a best-of compilation, she abruptly retired after roughly 14 titles.
2022–2024: the return as Azu Amatsuki
On 31 August 2022 she announced the return under Azu Amatsuki. She debuted on E-BODY in March 2023 as a dual exclusive with Fitch, then went freelance in May 2024.
The rankings in the second stretch:
- Oct–Nov 2023 — three consecutive weeks at #2, FANZA rental
- November 2023 — monthly #2, FANZA rental
- July 2024 — top 3, FANZA sales monthly
2025: the end, into a job
In July 2025 she said she was cutting output to study, planning a job in 2026. On 20 December 2025 she announced the career ended at the end of that month — with no retirement title filmed. Existing work simply ran out by mid-2026.
The detail matters: this is an exit with no ceremony. No final-title framing, no farewell event — just a stop, announced, into a job. It is the industry’s most ordinary ending, and precisely because of that, the most documented example of what “retirement” usually is: a person stopping to do something else.
What this career means
Two starts, one ordinary end. Amatsuki’s first retirement was abrupt and she came back; her second end was planned and she did not. The whole arc shows both shapes the industry’s “stop” takes — the reversible one and the final one — and that the difference is usually the person’s reason, not the industry’s mechanism. Her titles keep circulating after the stop, which is what retirement always does.
