Tsubasa Amami (天海つばさ): Fifteen Years as an IdeaPocket Exclusive, Now on Hiatus

Tsubasa Amami is the modern era’s endurance exclusive. IdeaPocket exclusive from October 2009 for fifteen years, without ever dropping to the freelance tier, with a singing career on the side, and on hiatus since November 2024. The career that ran the exclusive contract to its maximum length, then stopped on her own announcement.

The short version

2009: the IdeaPocket debut

She debuted in October 2009 as an IdeaPocket exclusive, in the First Impression line. She has been exclusive to IdeaPocket for the entire career, with only occasional single titles and collaborations elsewhere — never a move to the freelance tier.

2011–2017: the awards and the singing

• March 2011 — Asagei award, Sky PerfecTV! ceremony
• December 2011 — singing debut in the unit VITCH VITCH, with solo singing work after
• 2017 — Best Package, AV OPEN 2017 (fan-vote division)

The endurance

Fifteen years at one exclusive label is the industry’s maximum: the same order as Tsukasa Aoi’s fifteen years and Momonga Kana’s ten. Where Aika Yumeno holds the S1 endurance record, Amami holds the equivalent at IdeaPocket.

2024: the 15th anniversary and the hiatus

On 1 October 2024 she marked her 15th anniversary, and in November 2024 she announced she was taking a break. She has been on hiatus since.

What this career means

The exclusive tier’s endurance, at IdeaPocket. Amami’s fifteen years without a tier change is the rarest shape in the industry — the ordinary exclusive career ends or falls, and hers did neither for a decade and a half. The hiatus, announced on her own schedule after the 15th anniversary, is the same self-determined ending as Momonga Kana’s retirement, with the difference that Amami’s is framed as a break rather than a full stop.
