Mina Kitano’s career is the full loop of the industry’s two-tier system, run in both directions. E-BODY exclusive in 2021, climbing to a four-studio exclusive at the peak in 2024, then a deliberate step back to the freelance tier in 2025 — where she immediately ranked top ten again. 2021–2024: stacking exclusives

Four simultaneous exclusives is rare even at the top of the industry. The award record matched it: Best New Actress at the Weekly Playboy Adult Awards 2021, #1 in the FANZA monthly ranking in September 2021, and #3 in the FANZA H1 2022 ranking.

2025: the deliberate step back

On 27 May 2025 she announced she was leaving exclusivity. From June 2025 she returned to the freelance tier, after roughly four years as a contracted exclusive.

This is the uncommon direction — exclusive to freelance is usually the end, not a pivot. For Kitano it was a choice: she immediately resumed heavy output across h.m.p, Glory Quest, MOODYZ, Das, Max-A and Madonna, and in H2 2025 ranked #10 in FANZA, #4 among freelance performers.

Now

As of 2026 she is active in the freelance tier, releasing several titles a month, with 2025 her heaviest year at roughly 77 DVD titles. Her X account documents the day-to-day.

What this career means

Both tiers, at maximum, in sequence — and the return direction works. Kitano proved the exclusive tier could promote her to four studios, then proved the freelance tier could still rank her top ten after she walked away from the contracts. It is the mirror image of Ichika Matsumoto, who went freelance → exclusive; Kitano went exclusive → freelance, and both ended in the top ten.
